Blitz of the State Police in the Nuoro area for a vast anti-drug operation. From the first light of dawn, a hundred police officers from the Nuoro Police Headquarters with the help of the Mobile Squads of Cagliari, Oristano and Sassari, of the Crime Prevention Department and of canine units, are involved in the "Proserpina" operation.
There are numerous precautionary measures arranged by the magistrate.
The "Proserpina" operation began last December following a seizure of drugs against a well-known Nuorese convict, found in possession of some grams of heroin and marijuana, divided into doses ready to be sold to drug addicts and young boys . The seizure was carried out during extraordinary inspections of the territory arranged by the Quaestor to counteract the very common micro-market especially among the very young.
The police investigations have allowed us to identify a vast network of small dealers able to satisfy the local market's demand for drugs and to identify supply channels, located in the Cagliari area in the well-known neighborhoods of Sant 'Elia and Is Mirrionis, where two precautionary custody measures are being carried out in prison against subjects of high criminal importance, already the subject, in the past, of investigative activities by other Police Forces.
Numerous house searches are also being carried out in Nuoro, Cagliari and Oristano against about thirty suspects.
