New meeting of the Table to promote the redevelopment of buildings

“The redevelopment of public and private buildings is a great opportunity to promote the quality of Italian real estate assets and support Italy's economic growth. However, specific measures are needed to accompany this process - also in terms of incentive and subsidy mechanisms - and taking into account the provisions contained in the Directive on the energy requalification of buildings".

This is what emerged from the new meeting, in Rome, of the "Technical table to promote the redevelopment of buildings", promoted by the ABI and the representatives of the "Greenroad - Growing Energy Efficiency Through National Roundtables Addresses" project, financed by the European Commission.

Among the many topics at the center of the debate are:

  • the review process of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive;
  • foster the growth of the so-called green mortgage market – i.e. loans for the purchase of buildings with high energy performance or aimed at the energy requalification of buildings that still consume too much. This is a growing segment of the market; according to the latest available data, in the first quarter of 2022 this type of loan grew by more than 38 times compared to the third quarter of 2020;
  • expand the operational possibilities of the First Home Fund also in relation to the energy redevelopment of buildings;
  • the possibility of accessing databases on the energy classes of buildings (such as APE certificates, currently inaccessible).

The meeting was attended, among others, by ABI, representatives of the OECD, the European Commission, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the competent Ministries, the Bank of Italy, ANIA, Arera and the Associations of consumers and the main real estate operators (Confedilizia, Ance, Fiaip, Confindustria-Assoimmobiliare and Cdp Immobiliare), Invitalia, Enea, ABI Lab, Gse, Ambiente Italia, I-Comm, Sinloc.
