OMCOM Report: "Organized Crime and Jihad, the new frontier of Intelligence"

(by Salvatore Calleri and Pier Paolo Santi) One of the first rules in Intelligence consists in the targeted individualization of the internal and external enemy. Our country has a particularly dangerous and versatile internal enemy, with the potential to be a portal, a platform for external enemies represented by foreign organized crime, jihadist terrorists and even hostile intelligence or simply ready to exploit our weaknesses. This internal enemy bears the name of indigenous organized crime.

We have therefore entered the analysis of INTERCONNECTIONS. Theoretical study?

Absolutely not, the latest operations are proving it but we still have a fragmentary view of the phenomenon.

Starting from a similar assumption, the OMCOM (Mediterranean Observatory on Organized Crime and Mafia) is carrying out a unique project of its kind aimed at identifying similar interconnections.

The 1 ° January 2019 is launched by Salvatore Calleri and Santi Pier Paolo a report:

"ANALYSIS - ORGANIZED CRIME AND JIHAD - NEW FRONTIER OF INTELLIGENCE"

In this first work, the problematic of possible interconnections concerning autochthonous organized crime with predominantly Tunisian jihadist formations was brought into focus, with a methodology mainly Osint. Among the various lists, within the report is highlighted the risk that may have determined Ansar al Sharia (both the Tunisian and Libyan branches, the latter considered by the two Omcom analysts as contiguous to the first).

By overlapping, for example, simple data obtained from various attacks and their performers on European soil, the perception is to be faced with probable INTERCONNECTIONS of various kinds in which AS is often present, always at direct or indirect intervals.

The attacks carried out in Europe and Tunisia were almost all claimed by ISIS. None from AS training, and yet as in a classic murder when the scientific proceeds with the search for any traces left by a suspect, we always find small fragments of relationships between the events and the organization.

Even on the dissolution of AS Libya and the weakening of AS Tunisia the authors have strong doubts so much to prepare new analyzes addressed on the subject. One of the priorities for national and European security will be to neutralize a possible and future aggregation of all DESTABILIZZANTI components able, if not contained and eradicated, to form a "cascade effect" aimed at chaos and the consequent weakening of our defensive lines.

Therefore, the Omcom report is the beginning of a long work of analysis.
