Operation "Canova Reigns", a baby gang vanquished: the police arrest 8 minors for drugs

The Trento State Police, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court, carried out 8 precautionary measures restricting personal freedom against as many minors, residing in the capital and in the province. The suspects, all under the age of eighteen or just over the age of majority, were placed 4 in a community outside the region and 4 under the obligation to stay at home.

The investigations carried out since October 2019 by the Mobile Squad of the Trento Police Headquarters, were initiated when one of the boys reached by the precautionary measures was found, by a crew of the Steering Wheel of the Trento Police Headquarters, in possession of about 300 grams of marijuana .

The subsequent investigative activities of the State Police have made it possible to ascertain how the minors were part of a larger team, with associative traits, branched throughout the territory, dedicated primarily to the sale of hashish-type drugs, marijuana and cocaine, without even disdaining to impose itself with violent methods where there had been defaulting debtors.

The territory of the capital of Trentino has been divided by the partners of the association into real "shopping squares". To the north, Gardolo, Canova and Roncafort; to the south, Aldeno and Ravina. Each affiliate is responsible for managing the sale of drug retail in the assigned places.

At the top of the group, one of the minors was identified who was brought into a community outside Trentino Alto Adige, who came of age during the investigation. To underline his top role, the latter did not disdain to resort to the threat and violence against the various insolvent pushers or those who had expressed their intention to collaborate with the police.

In the course of the investigations, it also came to light how the narcotic consumer clientele was mostly the same age as the same vendors. Therefore, the "question" was fueled by teenagers or young adults.

The investigative activities of the State Police, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office for Minors, have made it possible to identify in the appurtenances of the suspects' homes, as well as in the Canova park, located in Gardolo, the places where most of the drug sales took place. Just the park, assiduously frequented by the suspects, has become a privileged place for the latter, to the point of being invoked by the minors themselves with the expression "Canova Regna" to enhance the strength of the group.

The investigations conducted by the Mobile Squad have made it possible to reveal what the modus operandi of the young pushers was to deliver the drug to peers. At first the contact took place with a telephone call with apparently neutral tones. But in reality, through a tested code and with the use of cryptic language, agreements were made for the subsequent transfers, formalized through social networks and instant messaging services to circumvent the investigative activities.

A particularity, and at the same time a remarkable "entrepreneurial" ability to always satisfy "demand", was found in the close link between the dealers, such as to ensure that if the pusher contacted had not currently had the availability of drugs, it would divert the buyer from a peer who can offer him the desired drug.

The investigations of the Mobile Squad continue, coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Trento, to trace the suppliers of the narcotic drug gang.
