To celebrate its first 90 years, theair Force, among the various initiatives to enhance the historic Palazzo di Forza Armata, he wanted to dedicate an exhibition to the artist Marcello Dudovich (1878-1962). Most of the works and memorabilia come from the outside but some magnificent wall paintings made from 1931 to 1933 that enhance our aviation are visible on the most prestigious walls of the noble area of Palazzo Aeronautica.

The initiative thanks to the collaboration between the Italian Air Force and the Special Archaeological Superintendence of Fine Arts and Landscape of Rome who oversaw the painstaking restoration.

The exhibition, we read on the institutional website of the Air Force, is a strong, explicit sign of the desire for rebirth, as far as possible, towards normal life, the rediscovery of moments of culture, of promotion of our values, of our riches, after one year of lockdown, of grief and suffering that we can't wait to overcome and leave behind.

It is therefore an exceptional and unique event of its kind during which it will be possible to appreciate, together with the recovered wall paintings, more than 200 works by the artist and his collaborator Walter Resentera, with documents, photos and memorabilia, coming from lenders. and Italian collections, public and private, for the first time gathered together in the Aeronautical headquarters. The mural works, in particular, which few have had the opportunity to admire and study, represent an absolute novelty in the world of art.

The choice of the exhibition then has a twofold objective: to present the master and his art; at the same time to reconstruct the parable and the atmosphere of a restless and creative time, crucial not only for the history of the Armed Force, but highly significant for the arts and culture of an era enchanted by modernity, innovation and technology. A journey through the "streets" of those years, populated by works of great artistic and cultural importance, of which Dudovich, especially in the large advertising posters posted in the squares, in the newsstands and in the streets of the cities, brings to the stage current events, style, seductive, modern, casual women, who reach the collective imagination for their persuasive elegance, for their stylized fluid movements and for the forges of their brightly colored dresses.

AERONAUTICS BUILDING

Aeronautical Palace was built by an architect of only 28 years, Robert Marino it is a magical place full of history and traditions that still hosts the professionalism and mission of the Armed Force, its identity and its glorious past. An evocative and engaging building capable of arousing emotions not only among art and architecture admirers, but also in those who want to observe and understand the trust in progress, aeronautical culture and the passion for the "world of our aviators" , that of flight and aerospace.
