Part of the weapons intended for Ukraine on the black market? An investigation and Russian propaganda sound the alarm

(by Francesco Matera) The International Legion fights in Ukraine and can count on funding and armaments from the regular army of Kiev. The paramilitaries come from around 52 countries and are mostly of British origin. Their pay varies from 1200 euros to just over 2500 euros. Very interesting is the report which published Repubblica edited by Raineri which tells the organization of the Legion divided into two departments, one under the orders of the army and the other of military intelligence. Thanks to a two-part investigation published on a Ukrainian site, Raineri also explores another not exactly reassuring aspect of the illicit activities of these modern mercenaries.

To raise many doubts about the legitimacy of the actions of the legionnaires are the reports told by the paramilitaries (on condition of anonymity) on the branch of intelligence. One of the leaders of Polish origin allegedly ordered the legionaries to loot abandoned shops, to bring most of the looted material to him and to keep some as personal loot.

Another leading exponent of the intelligence department, on the other hand, would hoard the material intended for the soldiers and most often resell it to them.

The Polish chief is protected by the two Taras, which are part of military intelligence, the all-powerful Gur, and therefore extend their untouchability to the trafficking of their protégé. The Gur enjoys a sort of immunity because it is found to be more loyal than the regular intelligence services, having no inconvenient history of Russian infiltration.

The legionaries, for their part, accuse their leaders of superficiality and poor tactical and logistical organization. Among the accusations, the most relevant is that the Pole, together with the rest of the loot, also stole light weapons for his own gain, in particular fifty American-made M4 rifles that allegedly disappeared from a Legion armory.

Russia feeds the propaganda by leaking "hot" information according to which a large part of the weapons sent by Westerners would end up abroad through the black market. The Americans, on the other hand, maintain that the "track" of their weapons is monitored and to date all weapons, according to them, would be firmly in the hands of the Ukrainian army. The question is: what happens after? If the information from this investigation were confirmed, we Westerners would be throwing some money and weapons into a "black hole" which could, paradoxically, feed international terrorism which, as is known, gets its supplies from that black market. Are we, then, arming our enemies?
