Matteo Renzi takes sides against antivaccinists, and he does so by sharing a post by Roberto Burioni, a doctor now famous online for his crusade against “keyboard doctors”, on his Facebook page. The message of the Pd secretary is very clear and only underlines the position of the Democratic Party on the mandatory issue of vaccines.
Matteo Renzi presents Burioni's post in this way, taking advantage of the opportunity to remove a few pebbles from his shoe: “This post demonstrates how a trained doctor can provide correct information by replacing a biased journalist. The doctor takes the sentence of a journalist who thinks he is authoritative because he always goes on TV. He indicates the source. Scientifically dismantle the journalist's thesis without ever giving in to the risk of insult or controversy. He cites a concrete and specific case of a 44-year-old person. And it refers to an official Istat data for verification. The doctor who provides information is called Roberto Burioni. The journalist who makes disinformation is called Marco Travaglio ".
Renzi then adds: “A final thought: I wish the election campaign wasn't about vaccines. Because the health of our children comes before the election of a deputy. But if the Lega and the Five Star Movement continue to say that they will change the law on the mandatory nature of vaccines, the Democratic Party strongly repeats that we are on the side of science and medicine. When we talk about children's health we talk about it with doctors, not with Di Maio or Salvini ".
