For now, Lombardia does not open the borders

(by John Blackeye) The civil protection bulletin arrived punctually even tonight. Lombardy leads the Italian ranking of positives, as many as 27.679 cases, 10.702 in Piedmont, 5.852 in Emilia-Romagna and so on. The bulletin if on the one hand continues to show positive signs in terms of recovered, discharged and hospitalized or in intensive care, on the other it clearly shows that 875 new positives have been recorded in Italy as well. This is a sign that we have not put covid-19 behind us.

However, the data is provided to us by the national news programs which have now decided, in coordination or in subordination with the Italian economic and financial system that feeds them, that it is time to reopen everything.

So, the data of civil protection they are pitted in a positive sense as if we were talking about a health walk.

On the 875 new positives, however, a few gravestones not to rekindle the attention of the sixty million Italians who are bombarded daily by massive doses of positivity towards the future in a real context in which the Italians were truly and only left in disarray.

The only weapon in the hands of the population is the mask, hygiene and social distancing but it is clear that with the total reopening of all activities, we will return to close contact, placing the side to the exacerbation of the pandemic caused by a virus that has not left us, that has not been defeated and waiting for us out there, invisible and sneaky.

In all this general confusion in which the Government does not give clear indications and which has delegated the Regions to do what they want and open commercial activities as early as Monday and the borders, people will be able to move without any justification from one part of Italy to another.

One case among all is that of Lombardy which to date has registered over 27 thousand new positives. Professor Ricciardi said in this regard that the numbers in Lombardy are not comforting, such as to recommend a normal reopening of commercial activities and especially of its borders.

Lombardy, the great patient of Italy, cannot and must not open its borders. If it is true that a solution is being pursued in Europe that sees every nation open the borders to nations that have the same level of contagion, the same thing should be done within Italian territory.

If we allow the Lombard population to move freely in a historical moment in which that Region has absolutely not resolved the problem of contagions and infected people, we are condemning the rest of Italy to death because Lombardy will become an export area of the disease.

The month of July is just around the corner and the Autostrada del Sole will soon become the communication route that every year brings millions of vacationers from the North to the South who will flock to the beaches of Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. This can only facilitate contagion in regions that have so far had the Covid-19 situation under control with the only difference that, in the event of new and intense outbreaks such as those in Lombardy, the South would not have the same health facilities. to fight emergencies.

In April, Prime Minister Conte stated before millions of Italians that it was necessary to start opening and that in order to do this, it was necessary to take responsibility. The President of the Council knows that responsibilities must be translated into penalties if necessary because allowing Lombardy to open its own borders and let Lombards move across Italy is equivalent to signing a great act of irresponsibility.
