POGLIANO MILANESE - Illicit waste management, abandonment and illegal dumping - The Carabinieri foresters search and seize abusive installations and tons of waste at risk of fire

The Carabinieri Forestali of Milan have sequestered 3 waste management sites in the municipality of Pogliano Milanese.

The searches, ordered by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, following the investigations carried out by the Nipaf of Milan, revealed a serious reality of illegal waste management - hazardous and non-hazardous - conducted on several areas by a waste treatment plant with its operational headquarters in Pogliano Milanese who had aroused suspicions for the anomalous "comings and goings" of trucks loaded with waste through the streets of the Municipality.

The military have ascertained a highly critical scenario: in fact, in addition to the numerous violations of the sector regulations, the company's activity presented considerable danger both for the risk of environmental pollution and for the risk of fire due to the abusive nature of the structures without fire-fighting systems both for a high quantity of hazardous and unpackaged waste promiscuously to fill entire illegal warehouses (plastics, oils, electronic waste, paints, wood, solvents, metals).

These considerations made it necessary to immediately seize the areas involved and the waste abandoned on them.

In particular, the seizure involved an agricultural land of about 500 square meters used illegally as a waste deposit, 2 sheds with adjacent external areas for over 2,5 hectares of surface in which piles of mixed waste were piled up to the ceiling as well as the the entire main plant of the Company - this one authorized - but managed in total deviation from legal requirements.

The investigations of the Carabinieri Forestali will now continue with the aim of verifying the origin of the waste and any further illegal activities to the detriment of the environment.
