State Police-Asti: 19 arrests, 11 precautionary measures in prison, 6 house arrest, 2 residence obligations for drug dealing

The investigative activity carried out by the policemen of the Mobile Squad, with telephone tapping during 150 days and numerous observation and tracking services, has allowed to collect numerous evidence, concerning about 15.000 cessions of narcotic substance, and to sequester about 4 kg of narcotic substance (heroin, cocaine and others).

The investigations have ascertained a vast network of drugstores managed by several subjects, Italians and foreigners, made up of at least four delinquent groups and some "solitary" subjects, who shared out the shops in Asti.

The narcotic substance - heroin and cocaine - was mainly purchased in the city of Turin and sometimes in the city of Milan, then transported to Asti and used for the supply of local shopping areas. For travel, the drug dealers used to travel the train route, even several times during the day, a means of transport deemed less dangerous than the use of private cars, concealing the drug when returning to Asti even inside their body, trying to in this way to nullify police checks.

During the investigation activity, 40 subjects are investigated in a state of freedom, of which 12 for the crime of personal aiding, were arrested in the flagrante of the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing 7 subjects and reported to the Prefecture as consumers of drugs other 13 subjects.

The execution of the personal precautionary measures, which involved about 100 operators of the Asti Police Headquarters, with the help of the Crime Prevention Department of Piedmont and Lombardy, has allowed to cut off the supply of the "piazzas" of Asti shops, returning the areas cleaned up from the degradation to the free use of the citizens of Asti.

Further details will be provided during the press conference to be held at 11 at the police station.
