State Police and Italian Space Agency sign the agreement against computer crimes

An agreement has been signed between the State Police and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) for the prevention and combating of computer crimes involving networks and information systems supporting the institutional functions of the Agency and of particular importance for the country.

The convention, signed by the Chief of Police, Director General of Public Security Prefect Lamberto Giannini and by Eng. Giorgio Saccoccia, president of the Italian Space Agency, is aimed at developing a structured collaboration between the State Police and the ASI for the adoption and strengthening of increasingly effective strategies in the field of prevention and fight against cybercrime.

The Italian Space Agency is a public body, which falls within the perimeter of national cyber security through its IT systems and its network infrastructure. The Agency has the task of coordinating and managing the funding linked to all national space activities, both at the level of national programs and for international collaborations, preparing and implementing the Italian space policy on the basis of the guidelines of the President of the Council of Ministers (or his delegate) and of the Interministerial Committee for policies relating to space and aerospace research (Comint).

The protection of these activities requires the intervention of all the actors involved in cyber security and makes it necessary to strictly share information. Sharing and coordination are now essential tools for responding promptly and effectively to the increasingly insidious and dangerous IT threat and for intensifying prevention and risk analysis activities. All with the aim of ensuring the integrity of the IT systems functional to the pursuit of the Agency's mission.

For the State Police, this task is ensured by the Postal and Communications Police and, in particular, by the National Anti-IT Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures which, with an operating room available 24 hours a day, represents the point of contact for the management of critical events of infrastructures of national importance operating in sensitive sectors of strategic importance for the country.

Also present at the signing of the agreement were the Prefect Daniela STRADIOTTO, Central Director for the Road, Railway, Communications Police and for the Special Departments of the State Police, Dr. Antonio BORRELLI, General Manager for the Department of Public Safety. of Public Security, Director of the Central Directorate for cyber security and the Director of the Postal and Communications Police Service Ivano Gabrielli.
