Polizia di Stato and Fastweb SpA sign the agreement on preventing and combating computer crimes

The agreement between the State Police and Fastweb SpA for the protection of the networks and information systems of the company identified of national interest for the institutional functions of public and private entities operating in strategic sectors for the country was signed today in Rome.

The agreement, signed by the Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security Franco Gabrielli and by Alberto Calcagno, CEO of Fastweb, is aimed at developing a structured collaboration between the State Police and Fastweb for the adoption of increasingly effective strategies in subject of prevention and fight against cybercrime.

The collaboration initiatives of the agreement include the constant sharing and analysis of information for the prevention of attacks, the exchange of reports relating to vulnerabilities and incidents aimed at identifying the origin of threats against critical infrastructures as well as reports aimed at monitoring and study of the evolution of cyber crime.

Fastweb, with 2,6 millions of customers on the fixed network and 1,7 million on the mobile network, is one of the leading telecommunications operators in Italy. The company, through its national fiber-optic network infrastructure and its IT systems, offers a wide range of fixed and mobile voice and data services to families, businesses and local and central public administrations.

The protection of customers and infrastructures, which requires the intervention of all the actors involved in cyber security, therefore requires a stringent information sharing that now arises as an essential tool to respond promptly and effectively to the increasingly insidious cyber threat and dangerous, and to intensify prevention and risk analysis activities.

For the State Police this task is ensured by the National Anti-Crime Information Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures of the Postal and Communications Police Service which for years has been dealing with the protection of computer networks of reality, both public and private, of national importance and strategic importance for the country.

Fastweb, on the other hand, in addition to providing a competence center dedicated to the design of IT Security solutions, is equipped with a Security Operations Center dedicated exclusively to the management of security services for public administrations and companies, active 24 hours on 24 for fend off attacks and prevent threats. A center of excellence in which the most advanced skills and technologies converge with the aim of providing the highest levels of IT protection to the thousands of platforms and telematic connections that Fastweb provides to institutions and client companies.

At the signing of the agreement were also present for the Department of Public Security, the Central Director for the Traffic, Railway, Communications Police and for the Special Departments of the State Police Armando Forgione and the Director of the Postal and Communications Police Service, Nunzia Ciardi. For Fastweb, Sergio Scalpelli, Director of external and institutional relations, Luca Merzi, security & real estate Officer, and Giuseppe Putrino, Head of authority operations.
