State Police and the Meter Association sign the agreement for the protection of minors and the prevention of online abuse

An agreement was signed today in Rome between the State Police and the Meter ETS Association aimed at the implementation of joint initiatives in the matter of promoting the rights of children and adolescents in the context of protecting minors from all forms of violence and online abuse.

The convention, signed by the Prefect Lamberto GIANNINI, Chief of Police – Director General of Public Safety and for the Meter ETS Association by the President Don Fortunato Di Noto, is aimed at continuing and strengthening the fruitful collaboration activities already carried out between the Ministry of the Interior - Department of Public Security - Central Directorate for the Road, Railway, Communications Police and for the Special Departments of the State Police and the non-profit organization governmental Meter Association also aimed at identifying the victims of crimes relating to child pornography. 

For the State Police, this task is ensured by the National Center for the Fight against Child Pornography Online (CNCPO) of the Postal and Communications Police Service which for years has been responsible for collecting all reports, also coming from foreign police bodies and public entities and individuals engaged in the fight against child pornography, monitoring the sites that disseminate material concerning the sexual exploitation of children over the Internet. 

The signed agreement intends to regulate the activities and projects carried out in collaboration between the Parties and the implementation of joint initiatives on the matter of promoting the rights of children and adolescents in the context of protecting minors from all forms of online violence and abuse and agree on the need for synergistic actions to promote the education of minors and families in conscious use of the web and to guarantee the implementation of prevention and protection measures, as well as integrated and sustained support for victims, taking into account the role of the virtual environment, as a concrete and important dimension of the life of children and adolescents, the need to renew joint efforts to combat the sexual exploitation of minors online and any other form of online aggression.
