State Police: international operation "Italian Bonnie & Clyde"

Around 10.00 today, in Pattaya (THAILAND), as part of the operation called "Italian Bonnie & Clyde", a special team of the Crime Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police and Interpol of Rome, coordinated by the Expert for Security of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police and in collaboration with the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Milan, arrested the two fugitives indicated in question, following the uninterrupted physical and electronic surveillance services, also carried out with the help of drone.

The couple, Galdelli Francesco and Goffi Vanja, both already wanted for crimes against the heritage, had jumped to the attention of the news for having orchestrated multiple and huge scams in Italy, the most striking one to the detriment of the Hollywood star George Clooney, creating a clothing line in the name of the unaware actor. The aforementioned people used to sell fake Rolexes via the internet pretending to be real, sometimes making fun of the unfortunate by sending them a packet of salt instead of watches.

The 25 July 2014, Galdelli had already been arrested inside the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya, at the outcome of a specific service coordinated by Interpol, supported by technical activity. The day after his arrest, however, brought before the local Court to answer for minor crimes related to his illegal stay in the State, he had managed to escape at the end of the hearing. The internal investigation, opened following the harsh protest letter sent by our ambassador to the Chief of the Royal Thai Police, allowed to ascertain that the subject had corrupted the prison guards in charge of his transfer, paying them the sum of 20.000 Thai Baht (about 500 euro), personally withdrawn from an automatic cash withdrawal machine, while in custody. All the personnel of the Penitentiary Police recognized as responsible for the evasion were then arrested and dismissed from the service. Through the stalking he was identified in a luxurious villa where the fugitives had found refuge.

Therefore, after having surrounded the building and prepared the appropriate precautions aimed at precluding any escape route, the operating personnel, coordinated by the Security Expert, broke into it, arresting both wanted persons. The two compatriots will be transferred to the Pattaya Immigration Bureau Detention Center, pending the extradition procedures.
