A 63-year-old American tourist, of Chinese origin, was in danger of dying in St. Peter's Square from a bite of a sandwich that went sideways. The relatives asked for help from the agents of the Vatican PS inspectorate who guard those places and one of the operators belonging to the special Traffic Police unit deputy to escort services to the Holy Father, intervened by practicing the Heimlich maneuver which allowed the woman, which was already cyanotic, to expel the morsel and return to breathe. The doctors of the Vatican health service intervened with an ambulance found the principle of suffocation aggravated by a previous pathology of the tourist. The doctors defined the intervention of the policeman as decisive, who received the compliments of the lady and her relatives and with the usual diligence returned to patrol the perimeter of St. Peter's Square.
