Postal Police: "Operation LUX"

As part of a long and detailed investigation carried out by the investigators of the National Anti-Crime Information Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures - CNAIPIC of the Postal and Communications Police Service, execution was carried out, with the help of personnel from the Postal Police Department and of the Communications of Rome, to the local and personal searches carried out against 9 people, who, in competition with each other, had set foot a complex and articulated criminal activity.

At the top of the 2 system, unfaithful ACEA employees, as well as some municipal technicians and specialized electricians.

Bribery and fraud crimes are challenged to suspects in various ways.

In the course of the activities, carried out thanks to the collaboration of ACEA and the important contribution of the Company Protection and of the Capitoline company's verifying technicians, 10 was also followed up with seizure orders, with which the same number of counters tampered with by the association were insured criminal, in the context of the services offered to "customers", in almost all cases commercial businesses (bars, restaurants, supermarkets) whose owners have been denounced for corruption and fraud.

The provisions, issued by the Public Prosecutor of Rome, which coordinated the complex investigative activity, were carried out inside the houses where the perpetrators of the crime reside, in the places where they perform their professional works and in the sites where they were tampered with the counters.

As found by the various investigators investigated, they in turn benefited from altered systems, making money, to the detriment of the Capitoline municipalized company, up to 75% of the actual consumption, or even using totally abusive connections to the electricity distribution network.

In addition to the meters subject to the seizure order, dozens of detectors were used for the suspects already tampered with or ready for tampering. Seized from the technicians of the punching machine, the result of theft or with abraded serial numbers, used at the time of the alteration of the meters.
