Italian Prosecco makes the "boom" in China

In Beijing, the Italian Prosecco made the "boom" and is increasingly appreciated in the world. The Italian Embassy in China has organized a seminar to promote one of the best known symbols of Italian style. The seminar was an opportunity to promote the candidacy of the Prosecco Hills in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as supporting one of the most famous Italian geographical indications in the world. “Italy and China, cultural superpowers, are respectively in first and second place in the world for the number of sites registered in the UNESCO world heritage, said the Italian ambassador Ettore Sequi.

With the candidacy of the Prosecco hills in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, Italy wanted to enhance an agricultural area characterized by the positive coexistence of human work and the preservation of biodiversity in the rural landscape. The Hills of the territory are a unique example of an evolving cultural landscape, the result of human activity and nature: not a simple panorama, but a place where the local community, thanks to its architectural culture and its viticultural techniques, knows how to harmoniously combine the beauty of human settlements with the uniqueness of the natural and climatic characteristics of the region. These are issues of great importance also in China, where the preservation of the ecosystem and the preservation of the landscape heritage are issues of absolute priority.

Prosecco is also one of the hundred geographical indications to be protected under an agreement being negotiated between the European Union and China. We look forward to the rapid conclusion of this agreement which will allow some of the best "Made in Italy" products to be better known and preserved even in the Chinese market ".

The event was also held at the Italian Institute of Culture, including the director of the UNESCO Office in Beijing and representatives of the European Union delegation, as well as the director of the Ice Amedeo Scarpa office: "The whole world is discovering the goodness and wholesomeness of Italian Prosecco. In the first 7 months of this year, Italy reached the historical record of sparkling wine exported: 1 billion liters in volume and over 4,5 billion dollars in value (+ 15% compared to the same period of the previous year). And the sparkling Prosecco wines alone represent over 56% of all the Italian sparkling wine required by international markets.
