MIM-Guardia di Finanza memorandum of understanding for the fight against "diploma factories"

Valditara: “A collaboration that contributes to our extraordinary supervisory plan. Legislative action also continues against those who do not attend real school"

The Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara and the Commander General of the Financial Police Andrew DeGennaro today they signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Ministry to combat "diplomat factories".

The collaboration takes place as part of the extraordinary plan to verify the continuation of the requirements for the recognition of scholastic equality in the institutes authorized to activate secondary school courses, initiated by the MIM. The Ministry will thus strengthen the prevention and fight against irregularities.

The new agreement represents the consolidation of an already existing collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Merit and the Guardia di Finanza which have been operating side by side for years in a project aimed at promoting economic legality, with training courses in schools .

“Today we are taking a further step in combating diploma mills, that is, schools that do not carry out real educational activities, violate the law and harm students. They also damage the good name of private schools which are in the vast majority serious institutions. The extraordinary plan that we have activated to ensure compliance with the requirements for educational equality is made even more effective by this collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, which I thank. At the same time, our legislative action continues to eliminate the distortions that have allowed the birth of the "diploma factories" phenomenon and to affirm the culture of legality in education", declared the Minister Joseph Vallettara.
