Reggio Calabria: precautionary custody for two individuals held responsible for drug-dealing

The Reggio Calabria State Police, in the morning of today, following complex and complex investigations coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Reggio Calabria, together with the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) of Wiesbaden (Germany) executed an Ordinance of custody in prison issued, for crimes related to drugs, by the GIP at the Court of Reggio Calabria, against CB, and SA captured respectively in Taverna (CZ) and in the German town of Moers, located near Duisburg .

The arrests of the aforementioned are placed in the ambit of the imposing inter-force police operation European 'Ndrangheta Connection "carried out, in December last year, in Italy and in Northern Europe against more than 90 people, with the coordination of EUROJUST and the EUROPOL Agency, which has struck, among others, many top representatives of the mafia families of the Ionic district of the province of Reggio Calabria, revealing the interests of the gangs in intercontinental drug trafficking, money laundering and the re-use of illicit proceeds in the sector of catering. This operation was the result of years of intense investigative work whose fundamental contribution was given by the Reggina Mobile Squad in the framework of the Joint Investigation Team set up in the 18.10.2016, in The Hague (NL), at EUROJUST between the Magistrature and Police Forces of Italy, the Netherlands and Germany.

For Italy, the Reggio Calabria District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office with the support of the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office, the Mobile Squad of the Reggio Calabria Police Headquarters with the support of the Central Operational Service of the State Police, the Economic Police Unit Finanziaria of the Guardia di Finanza of Catanzaro with the support of the Central Investigation Service on Organized Crime of the Guardia di Finanza and the 38.000th Group of the Special Currency Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza; for Germany the Public Prosecutor's Office in Duisburg and the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) in Wiesbaden, for the Netherlands the Public Prosecutor's Office in Zwolle and the FIOD (Dutch Tax and Economic Police Corps) in Eindhoven. The results collected highlighted some conduct of CB regarding the fact of having accepted for sale an unspecified quantity of cocaine and a carton of narcotic substance of the hashish type, held in competition by GG and PD, both already arrested in the "European 'Ndrangheta Connection; as well as having attempted to purchase narcotic substances such as cocaine from them in the order of at least one pack, at a price between 41.000 and 3.000 euros per kg. CB is also charged with the crime of detaining a sample of narcotic substance of the marijuana type called "Amnesia" and of transferring, at a price of XNUMX euros per kg, of another narcotic substance of the hashish type, known as "Superpolline" .

For crimes relating to narcotic substances, SA will also have to answer in particular, for having held and sold to PD, which accepted the agreement, 4 or 5 packages of cocaine that the latter would have had to cut and then distribute in the square of Milan, paying it at the outcome or exchanging it for heroin. For both suspects, the aggravating circumstance of having facilitated the clan of 'Ndrangheta dei PELLE - VOTTARI of San Luca (RC) was deemed to exist. For some time, SA, alias "TT" and "the mechanic", was in Moers, where he was located and arrested by the German BKA, in execution of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Judicial Authority of Reggio Calabria.

The SA is a cousin of a top member of the PELLE gang of San Luca, arrested by this Flying Squad in the 2016 on the run, and of another subject of the gang known as "Mico i Mata", currently detained as involved in the "European 'Ndrangheta Connection" survey. After the formalities, the Reggio Calabria AG will request delivery of the aforementioned SA in Italy. Also on this occasion, international cooperation between judicial authorities and police forces in investigations and sharing of information and probative assets, under the aegis of EUROJUST, proved to be fundamental.
