Riad launches a coalition of 41 countries against terrorism

As announced by the Nova agency, the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman, officially launched today from Riyadh an anti-terrorism coalition, formed by 41 Muslim countries, on the occasion of the IMTC (Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition) meeting to which the ministers of defense of the member countries took part. The IMTC was announced in December 2015, but today's meeting in Riyadh is the official launch. The heir to the throne promised "strong, excellent and special coordination" between member countries against extremist groups. "Our meeting is very important because in recent years (terrorist) organizations have been acting in our country without coordination" to counter them, said Mohammad bin Salman. This trend ends today “because over 40 countries send a very strong signal, which consists in saying that we will work together and that we will combine our military, financial, political and intelligence capabilities”, continued the heir to the throne. "This will happen from today and each country will contribute with the maximum of its capabilities", underlined Bin Salman.

In reference to last Friday's attack on a Sufi mosque in Sinai, the heir to the throne said that it is a "very painful event that reminds us of the dangers of terrorism and extremism" and that "we will stand by the 'Egypt and all those countries of the world that fight terrorism and extremism ”. According to reports from the news agency of the kingdom "Spa", Qatar, despite being a member of the IMTC, did not participate in today's meeting. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt broke off diplomatic relations with Doha on June 5, accusing it of supporting terrorism.
