French researchers invent secular abstinence: "Monday, 2019 without meat and fish"

(by Nicola Simonetti) "Do not eat meat on Friday", the disused precept of the pre-conciliar Catholic "Doctrine", has been changed, by a group of researchers from the French CNRS (national research council), into "do not eat meat nor fish on Mondays throughout 2019 ". A campaign that is already being celebrated in about 40 countries dating back to the year 2000, to the cry of "" meatless monday ".

CNRS is "the largest government research organization in France and the largest fundamental scientific agency in Europe".

According to scientists, at least 50.000 - 500.000 French will be "converted" to the precept.

To translate the scientific diktat into practice, 50.000 French personalities take to the field and join the campaign, which will be launched across the country, the next 7 January and which aims to achieve the goal of changing the behavior of their fellow citizens not always correct. They motivated, on the "Monde" website, their consent and appeal "to safeguard health, the environment and animal ethics".

The first signatures that support the Campaign are the social psychologist Laurent Bègue, director of "Maison des sciences de l'Homme Alpes" (which corroborates it with substantial financial intervention), and Nicolas Treich, member of the Institut national de la recherche agronomique ( Inra).

There will be many people on the site who will propose alternative recipes to the "no meat-fish", to the "green table of the lay Monday" and, therefore, on social networks to answer the questions posed by the questionnaire that investigates the eating habits of individuals and their relationship with the animal world especially linking the whole with the contradiction of industrial breeding and suffering caused to the beasts, deforestation, the contribution of these to climate warming, to the attempt to ecological balance, the consistent risk of cancer that uncontrolled consumption of meat brings with it.

CNRS researchers will analyze the responses and draw useful information from them.

The counter-response of the Fédération Nationale des Syndicats d'Exploitants Agricoles ("FNSEA - the majority professional union in the agricultural profession in France. It is part of the employers' organizations and agricultural professional organizations") is firm and dignified, stating that France it is not a land of meat consumption that pays attention to the problems complained of.
