Russia, presidential elections: today the official way to the electoral campaign

The election campaign for the election of the new Russian president has officially begun in Russia today.

Candidates must, within 90 days, complete the official appointment procedure at the congresses of the relevant parties or obtain the support of electoral groups at the meetings and deliver the documents to the Central Electoral Commission within the deadline, collect signatures and meet opponents during television and radio debates.

The December 15, the Federation Council at a plenary meeting adopted a resolution on the appointment of Russian president for 18 in March 2018. The decree of the Federation Council (Senate) was officially published in the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" and in fact this document begins the electoral campaign.

Independent candidates, such as President-in-Office Vladimir Putin, have 20 days from the start of the campaign to hold a meeting of voters to support them and present themselves with the minutes of the meeting and other necessary documents. For parties to hold congresses and the nomination of candidates are granted for 25 days, after which the Electoral Commission checks all the documents.

Representatives of parliamentary parties, who do not need to collect signatures, will have the opportunity to present documents for registration as early as next December 27. This period will end the 31 January at 18 Moscow time.
