Sea Drone Tech Summit 2018, all the news on marine drones and the possibilities of use

Under the patronage of the Ministries of Defense and Economic Development, Cnr, Enea, Rina, Puglia Region and local institutions, the "Sea Drone Tech Summit 2018" conference on marine and flying drones was held in Gallipoli, promoted by Ifimedia and organized by Mediarkè company in collaboration with Roma Drone Campus.

Thousands of experts and industry experts intervened to talk about sophisticated flying robots and unmanned boats that can be used to control major sea routes, provide data on water pollution and deal with illegal trafficking and illegal immigration. They can also be used for rescue missions in case of accidents and shipwrecks.

Fincantieri, through its subsidiary Seastema and the Navy, plans to build a fleet of underwater drones capable of exploring the deepest sea areas.

The future for the security of the Mediterranean will increasingly see the use of super-technological drones. Today, for example, the Predator drones of the Air Force are used in a dual use for security operations and to identify suspicious ships, or boats of migrants.

The Falco Evo aircraft built by Leonardo will also be available and will be available to the Frontex agency for surveillance missions in the Mediterranean.

Among the new projects presented there is the Sav - Sistema Aeromobile Vincolato - produced by the TopView casertan company. Incorporated in the European project, this drone is equipped with optical and thermal sensors and is bound by a long cable that provides power supply and can be used from the deck of a vessel in monitoring and rescue missions.

Then there is the Splash Drone 3, produced by the Chinese SwellPro which is the first waterproof quadricopter and with floating capacity, usable in the sea even with rain and wind.

The Marin project, on the other hand, is developed by Seastema, in collaboration with Rina Consulting, Co.M.Media and the University of Salento, for coastal control and security missions.

The Sapienza project in Rome, SeaLab, a small navidron with jet propulsion for marine monitoring, is very interesting.
