Singapore is preparing to welcome the summit between Trump and Kim

The Singapore authorities have designated an area in the center of the city-state as a "special area" for the 12th summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, which will take effect from 10 to 14 June next.

The area is home to the Shagri-La Hotel which is supposed to be the place where the face to face between the two leaders will be held. There are also two other hotels in the area, the Hilton and the Four Seasons, shopping malls and at least five subway stops.

One of the problems still to be resolved is who will cover the expenses of the luxurious Fullerton Hotel, which will host the North Korean delegation. But it is just a few hours ago that the anti-nuclear group ICAN, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, has offered to take charge of the expenses.

Akira Kawasaki, ICAn representative in Japan, said: “We are ready to cover the cost of the summit, of course including expenses and for the conference venue. If the summit is in danger due to financial problems, we are ready to cover the cost of this important, historic summit ”.

According to reports from Washington Posto last week, the United States would also be willing to cover the costs, but are afraid of offending Pyongyang with the offer.
