Slovenia-Croatia: Pahor's election victory, Croatian president Kitarovic congratulates his counterpart

Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, Croatian president, congratulated today with the Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor for yesterday's electoral victory. Pahor won in the run-off of the Slovenian presidential elections with almost 53% while the rival of the outgoing head of state, the former mayor of Kamnik Marjan Sarec, stood at around 47%. Pahor's victory is the one with the least difference in the history of the country since its independence. The confirmation of Pahor's announced victory, which many predicted overwhelming, has not been so obvious.

In a letter to Pahor, Grabar Kiitarovic said that "Only by dialogue can we resolve the open issues in relations between the two countries". Grabar Kitarovic said he was "convinced" that along with Pahor "We will continue to work to strengthen relations between Croatia and Slovenia, important partners within the EU, NATO and the southeastern region of the continent".
