Hope: "There won't be a new lockdown"

“There won't be a new lockdown, I'm optimistic even if cautious and cautious. Our National Health Service has greatly strengthened. The situation is not comparable to that of February-March. When we had an out-of-control contagion curve and we didn't have an apparatus ready to trace and isolate cases ". Thus the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza in an interview reassures us that there will no longer be the forced closure of the country.

The minister adds: "We decided on the lockdown because at a certain point we had the feeling that the health service was collapsing. In Italy we had five thousand intensive care places, now they have doubled. My opinion and that of my European colleagues is that we will not have this relapse, the more we manage to safeguard the elderly and the most fragile".

If the outbreaks were to grow exponentially, it will be evaluated at the moment: "To make a red zone, a territory must explode. And I don't see it. I see a spread and not an explosion".

Speranza made it clear that "we are in the phase of living with the virus by taking risks, the zero contagion rate does not exist. To reset it, a lockdown was needed for another 3-4 months. We must control it and avoid unnecessary risks ”.

A fact not only Italian, emphasizes the minister is that now young people are under attack. "I spoke to my colleagues from France, Germany and Spain and they too confirm the tendency of the virus to affect young people more; this produces less impact on hospitals. Today the average age is very low and Covid does not have the effect it has on the seventy year old on the XNUMX year old. And therefore the impact on the health service is relative "

The minister's appeal to young people: "Give us a hand to keep contagions under control to protect parents and grandparents when you come back from vacation: don't overdo it ".

The minister considers it appropriate to emphasize the use ofImmune App: "We are at 5 million devices downloaded and they have to increase as it has its usefulness".

There will not be another lockdown because the impact of the boom of these new cases on the health service is limited, then specifies Speranza: "We talk to our European colleagues every day. We Italians are in another phase. France and Spain are managing 4 infections a day without any lockdown. Italy has a quarter of their cases and half of those of the Germans ”.

On the diatribe between the Regions, "we are working on an agreement between regions to manage ferries between Sardinia and Lazio. The more they do, the better, in ports, stations, airports, but it is the governors who have to organize them "
