Earthquake of magnitude 5,4 makes Croatia tremble, damage to Zagreb

A strong earthquake of magnitude 5.4 woke up Zagreb today at 5:24 am, the capital of Croatia.

The earthquake, according to what emerges from the photos and videos published online in these hours by the local media, has caused extensive damage in the city. The images show severely damaged buildings, cars destroyed by the rubble of buildings and streets covered with rubble. Many residents took to the streets. For now there is no news of injured or victims.

Several people who are quarantined for coronavirus have remained in their homes. In Croatia the numbers of the infection are not alarming, but the authorities had equally taken restrictive measures, such as the stop to public transport.

Checks were carried out at the Krsko nuclear power plant, which is a few tens of kilometers from the epicenter.

The earthquake was also felt in Italy in the city of Trieste, which is about 180 km from the border; few calls to firefighters and no damage reported.
