Terror in Strasbourg, 3 dead and 12 injured, the Italian journalist is serious

Terror in Strasbourg, shooting in the crowd, dead, wounded slumped in the streets, people fleeing screaming. There are at least three victims of one, perhaps two bombers, who opened fire around 20.00. Twelve wounded, eight of whom in serious condition, including an Italian, a young radio journalist whose conditions have worsened in the last few hours. Seven would be in serious condition.

The killer is called Cherif C., 29, of North African origin but born in Strasbourg. To catch him, the police set up a massive manhunt. Armored the historic center where no one has been allowed to enter, only to leave. The mayor of the city, Roland Ries, immediately spoke of a terrorist attack and invited everyone to stay indoors.

However, the man managed to escape by moving away from the center. After a few hours they spotted him in a suburb, Neudorf, where at first he seemed to have barricaded himself in a building. But the police raid failed and searches continue. Apparently the bomber would not have acted alone and a second suspect continues to be sought in the center. Almost all the politicians of the European Parliament are in Strasbourg these days for the monthly plenary. Many MEPs, including Italians, found themselves stuck in restaurants and bars. While the parliament was armored, on the orders of President Antonio Tajani.

According to the first reconstructions, the attacker would have fired several shots in the rue del Grandes Arcades, near the central Place Kleber, where the market is located and then he would have fled in the direction of the Grande Rue, where witnesses they would hear more shots. Those present fled amid scenes of panic. The police then isolated the area for a radius of about 200 meters around the Gutenberg square, traffic was diverted, while ambulances ran towards the center. French President Emmanuel Macron left an ongoing reception at the Elysée in advance to personally follow the events in the Alsatian city.
