The policemen of the Altedo Traffic Police Subsection, during the regular motorway surveillance shift along the A13 Bologna - Padua, on the morning of 23 December, proceeded to stop a van with a Polish license plate that was proceeding at high speed towards Bologna.

Shortly before the entrance to the "Po Ovest" service area, in the municipality of Ferrara, the agents checked the vehicle and discovered inside, crammed into the carriers, 7 puppies of different breeds, 5 of Pomeranians, a Dachshund German, a Shiba puppy and two kittens, all visibly below the minimum age for separation from their mother.

When asked for clarification by the Agents, the driver and passenger of the vehicle, both of Belarusian origin, but residing in Poland in Warsaw, under the age of 30, claimed to have been in charge of transporting the puppies from a kennel. in Belarus to an Italian buyer.

While exhibiting the health documents of the puppies, however, they were nervous and intolerant, so much so as to induce the men of the Polstrada to deepen the investigations at the Altedo barracks.

After contacting the veterinarians of the health agency USL of Bologna, the agents did their utmost to feed the puppies.

After the first checks, the veterinarians discovered that the puppies' documents had been specifically falsified to allow them to be imported into Italy, as they were all clearly younger than the four months required by EU regulations for importing into the EU. .

It was also discovered that the phantom Italian buyer was the same forwarder who had entrusted the puppies to the two men from Belarus, so much so as to induce the policemen to hypothesize an activity of transport without any title or license for purely commercial purposes of the poor puppies.

Therefore, at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Ferrara, the two Belarusian citizens were denounced in a state of freedom for illicit trafficking in pets. The puppies, on the other hand, have been entrusted to citizens who have expressed their willingness to look after them lovingly while awaiting procedural developments.
