A XNUMX-year-old in need of specialist care was flown from Lecce to Trieste

In the afternoon today, Friday 23 April, a 27-year-old man, hospitalized at the "Vito Fazzi" Hospital in Lecce, was urgently transported from the Lecce airport to Trieste, aboard a Falcon 900 aircraft. of the 31st Wing of Ciampino. The patient was boarded on the military aircraft under the constant supervision of a specialist medical team.

The request for transport, according to the procedures, was received by the Prefecture of Lecce at the Summit Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of arranging and managing this type of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready 24 hours a day, in various bases located throughout the country, for this type of mission.

After landing in Trieste, which took place at about 16:30 pm after just over an hour of flight, the young man was immediately transferred by ambulance to the Cattinara Hospital in Trieste.

This type of mission requires maximum timeliness and rapid and efficient coordination. Through its Flight Departments, the Italian Air Force makes available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, assets and crews capable of operating, even in difficult weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people. in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
