A Falcon 50 from the 5st Wing of the Italian Air Force carried out a medical transport from Reggio Calabria to Ciampino airport on the night of 8 May, in favor of an XNUMX-year-old girl who needed to be transferred urgently to the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome. The transport of the little patient, her parents and a medical team accompanying her was requested by the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria.
The request for support was received by the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria at the Top Situations Room of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing - in coordination with Prefectures, Hospitals and Presidency of the Council of Ministers - this kind of transport throughout the national territory, including islands.
Military Air Force Man and Aircraft are ready day and night to ensure, where required and deemed necessary for urgent reasons, health transportation of people in imminent danger of life.
Thousands of flight hours are carried out every year by the aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, always on the front line in case of emergency.
