Military Unions: "Minister Trenta now a gesture of responsibility"

(Andrea Pinto) Many promises from the yellow-green government, one of the most eagerly awaited is the launch of the “Corda” law on the unionization of the military proposed with conviction by the M5S. The Minister of Defense, Elisabetta #Trenta first of all, with the issue of a ministerial circular, it acknowledged the indications of the Council which sanctioned with sentence no. 120/2018 the unconstitutionality of the current law that prohibits the military from being able to establish trade union associations. Since that moment, many trade union associations of military members of the various Armed Forces and Armed Corps of the State have been born. All the trade union associations that have been established have also been audited in the Defense Commission to refine the draft of the #Corda Law which should have been proposed in the Chamber, probably already after the summer. With the government crisis underway, the law that would have given the Military Unions a legislative framework becomes more and more a mirage, with all due respect to the rights of citizens with stars. The Trade Union Associations of the Military are in understandable agitation and do not want an epochal turning point for citizens with stars to fall into oblivion.

In this regard, a joint press release from SIULM - Unitary Union of Military Workers - SINAFI - National Union of Financiers - SIM Aeronautica - SIM Coast Guard - SIM Guardia di Finanza "- NSC - New Carabinieri Syndicate - SIM Marina has just arrived:

The undersigned military trade unions follow with apprehension the political crisis of the last few hours. The consequences of the fall of this government for the process of military unionization that has been going on for 14 months and which has not yet seen the light with a law that sanctions its operation, in compliance with the historic decision of the Consulta n.120 / 2018 , would certainly be nefarious. The risk would be to remain at the mercy of highly restrictive circulars issued by the Minister's Cabinet - non-working hours delegations, prohibition of dealing with problems of the individual soldier-. Furthermore, the current and no longer tolerable hybrid situation of coexistence with the Military Representation would crystallize, its millionaire annual expenses, which the Constitutional Court intended to abolish when the trade union associations were fully operational - which have already sustained thousands of euros of foundation costs on their own -.

In light of the facts and these unexpected political implications, the trade union associations are asking Minister Trenta to make a gesture of responsibility: circulars that guarantee real operation to our associations and not the sterilization of what was decided by the Council, which should have constituted a real revolution for the rights of citizens with the stars and which instead we risk being sent adrift.

In the event that our umpteenth request should remain a dead letter, we should note, with enormous regret, the disconnect between the institutions of our beloved Republic and its citizens in uniform, which with their commitment and sacrifice guarantee the internal and external security of the state and ensure the protection of the institutions.
