According to Aleksandr Lavrentyev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation, the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey will discuss today, in Ankara, the prospects for the solution of the Syrian conflict, which can be considered "positive" also in relation to good results obtained in eastern Ghouta.

The official said - the full range of issues relating to Syria will be discussed; now we need to draw conclusions and outline the perspectives ”. Lavrentyev then defined the prospects for resolving the crisis as "good". "I think the prospects are in principle good now, considering the positive results they have in Eastern Ghouta."

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hasan Rohani have been in the Turkish capital Ankara since yesterday, where Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan will host the summit, born with the intention of following up on the Astana agreements last May . In the face-to-face between Erdogan and Rohani, the trilateral between the three presidents will follow, with the visit ending with a press conference scheduled at 17 pm local time, 00 pm in Italy.

A dialogue born in Astana and then continued last November in Sochi, Russia and which sees Iran, Turkey and Russia in search of a political solution to the conflict in Syria, with the management of a de-escalation area of ​​the conflict in the northern region of Idlib, where the three countries are guarantors of a truce between the loyalists of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and various rebel and Islamist-inspired groups. The future of the Kurds in Syria is also on the agenda, following the entry of the Turkish army into Afrin, in northwestern Syria, on March 18 and Erdogan's intention to attack other areas of the north of the country such as Sincar and Manbij .
