On Sunday 21 January 2018, the National Magistrates Association, in collaboration with the Italian Naval League - Trapani sections - on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the murder of the magistrate (1983 January 1), will commemorate Giangiacomo Ciaccio Montalto with the Sailing Regatta "XNUMX ° Giangiacomo Ciaccio Montalto National Trophy ”.
A choice, that of the regatta, related to the great passion for sailing cultivated by Ciaccio Montalto.
The event will also be the occasion for the inauguration of a large mural created by the Trapanese artist Massimiliano Errera and dedicated to the murdered magistrate, a work that will be placed at the former Lazzaretto, home of the Trapani Naval League: an installation that aims to restore in a permanent way to the citizens the image of a man who sacrificed his life for Justice and Legality.
The day starts at 9.00, at the headquarters of the Naval League, with the briefing of the crews - registration for the regatta is free and crews from other Italian regions will also participate -, which will be followed, at 9.30, by the memory of Giangiacomo Ciaccio Montalto by friends and colleagues and, at 10.00, the inauguration of the mural. We will then move to the Ligny Tower from whose water mirror in front, at 11.00, the regatta will begin. The start of the competition can also be followed from the terrace of the Tower. The award ceremony for the winners scheduled for 15.00 pm will conclude the event.
