Trump announces the short withdrawal of 2000 men from Afghanistan and Syria

US President Donald Trump reiterated his intention to withdraw US forces engaged in "interminable" wars in Syria and Afghanistan, but keeping them in Iraq in an anti-Iranian key.

Trump during an interview with the US television broadcaster CBS, against the background of the negotiations in Qatar between the United States and the Taliban guerrilla, said: "The time has come, and we will see what will happen with the Taliban. They want peace, they are tired. Everyone is tired ".

As for Syria, Trump announced that about 2 thousand US troops on the ground will leave "in a matter of time", stressing however the need to protect Israel as a justification for a lengthening of the times compared to the previous announcement of an immediate withdrawal. Trump added that soon the "reconquest of the 100% of the Caliphate" of the Islamic State will be announced: "We are now at 99%, we will be at 100%"; but Washington will not give up its military bases in Iraq: "We own an incredible and expensive military base perfectly located to monitor different parts of the Middle East, if someone wants to make nuclear weapons we will know it before they do it", he concluded alluding to Iran .
