Turkey: Trump "keep his word", America stops supplying weapons to Syria

According to what Mevlut Cavusoglu, head of diplomacy said today, Turkey expects US President Donald Trump "to keep his word" on the suspension of weapons in Syria to the Syrian Kurdish militias of the YPG, the People's Defense Unit considered by Ankara as "terrorists".

Cavusoglu in a televised statement, speaking from Antalya, in southern Turkey, said that "waiting for Trump to speak is our most natural right".

The day before, the same minister said that Trump had assured his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan "that he had given very clear instructions to stop the delivery of weapons to the YPG" during a telephone conversation between the two heads of state. "Of course, we want to see it applied," Cavusoglu added.

In a statement released yesterday by the White House, however, the US administration seemed less explicit about its intentions towards these militias.
