After the American withdrawal, the European Union, China, Russia and Iran confirm their commitment to respect and fully implement the provisions of the Iranian nuclear agreement.

This was announced by Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative, at the end of the ministerial meeting that took place today in Vienna. During the meeting the participants also expressed their willingness to protect their companies from the extraterritorial effects of US sanctions.

The meeting of the joint commission, convened at the request of Tehran to take stock of the situation after the withdrawal of the United States, was chaired by Mogherini and saw the participation of foreign ministers of China, France, Germany, Russia, Iran and British Undersecretary for the Middle East, Alistar Burt.

Ministers confirmed their commitment to "full and effective" implementation of the agreement and all related interventions, first of all the modernization of the Arak reactor and the conversion of the Fordow site into a nuclear and technological center.

Mogherini and colleagues also recognized that the removal of economic sanctions is an integral part of the application of the agreement. And they therefore pledged to work with "good will" and in a "positive atmosphere" to relaunch economic and commercial relations at all levels.
