National Unity on alternate days: "We can't do it"

(by John Blackeye) The clash on the Mes between Five Stars and the Democratic Party made the spread fly to 245 basis points. Then the Btp-Bund differential fell back to 236. Non-performing government bonds with a yield on the threshold of 2%. Piazza Affari has lost almost 5%, the worst in Europe. The Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, will hold a briefing in the Chamber Chamber on 21 April at 17 pm. The following day the Chamber Chamber will examine the Cura Italia decree. As in the Senate, also in Montecitorio the government will ask for the vote of confidence on the text. The € 600 bonus for over 1,8 million people has started. For the Minister of Economy, Roberto Gualtieri, from April there will be an increase to € 800 in the allowance for the self-employed. Loans to businesses of 25 thousand euros are also operational: the first disbursements from Monday. Alarm on the additional liquidity needs of companies, which according to Bankitalia is estimated at 50 billion euros between March and July. Confindustria will elect its new president online today. The Guardia di Finanza in the Milanese investigation into the coronavirus epidemic in the RSA acquired documents to Pirellone. "Maximum collaboration with those who carry out the investigations," said the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.

We can't do it. We are a sick nation. We have not yet recovered from the post-war period to today. The real disease, let's face it, is not the coronavirus pandemic which, however disastrous and bloody, will be a transient phenomenon, of global significance, but which will disappear with all the damage and with all the death load that has brought us.
The real disease is another. It is what we have been carrying for nearly a hundred years. It is what our grandparents have transmitted to us and which we are transmitting to our children, in schools, in universities. It is that disease that must necessarily confront us on two fronts, divided by ideologies and political movements rather than being united by our unique and wonderful Italian spirit.
No, we can't do it, at least until now and at least in these conditions, with this mindset and with this national structure in which they taught us to prevail, overpower, oppose, accuse, foment, win over the enemy: that is, on ourselves, on Italy.
Driven by the thirst for news that can give the signal for an improvement in the general conditions of the pandemic that is keeping us indoors, we turn on the TV and enter an even bigger abyss.

The abyss is in the information

This time the abyss is that of information. What we had managed to build in this period of "common evil", that is, the national unity that many had wanted to represent with the flags hanging from the balconies, was overwhelmed by the beginning of new Italian opposition.
Not even the loss of nearly six hundred lives a day, not even the impotence of science in the face of a planetary evil, have managed to stop the old national impetus that wants to keep us always separate and opposed.
Without any respect for the hundreds of coffins that alternate in line to enter the morgues of the hospitals, following an inauspicious rhythm that Italy did not even know at the time of the two wars, we manage to fight "when the dead man is still at home".
We cannot do less than the poison that has debilitated us for almost eighty years and thus the full-blown “social” clash that has an all-Italian connotation has restarted. Yes, because the same thing doesn't happen abroad.
Just read the headlines, even the sports ones. They look like war titles: "clashes between oppositions and government","opposition between party members","very serious interference","great incompetence","charges","errors","personal interests" and so on. Titles that subliminally enter the heads of the people ending up arming everyone's consciences with hatred and opposition.
The mood of the Italian who, in a moment of national emergency, had rediscovered the spirit of unity and general collaboration, in a moment is shattered and brought back to the state of inattention that has inspired all Italians in the last eighty years.
We can't do it.
We have not yet finished suffering. We don't know what lies ahead. Yet, instead of reinvigorating that spirit of unity, instead of making our union our strength, contrary to what all the other peoples of the earth do, the Italians are pushed towards opposition, division, siding, discontent.

It is clear that in these conditions, Italy will never rise again.

With the pandemic in progress, which marked a short period of national truce, the internal conflicts of a country that despite its history, its industrial strength, its culture and its great people, have always wanted to seek a pretext to self-destruct.
From TV, it is learned that a global and generalized attack has started at the health facilities that have entered the eye of the hurricane for having registered hundreds of deaths among their guests. The judiciary, always present in the national life cycle, has opened files everywhere. The RSA managers are investigated by initiating justice proceedings that may last for decades. At this point it wouldn't even be far-fetched have to investigate all government representatives and also the media, given that for the first two months of the pandemic, they all and without distinction stated that there was no need to use masks in a contagious context in which they were absolutely necessary. We would have to investigate Europe for failure to rescue. Everyone should be investigated.
In the meantime, we will have lost more decades, remaining firm around criminal and administrative proceedings. Overcome by all the other nations that will make the pandemic a catapult to return to the positions of progress and well-being that every people deserves. When we realize that we are firm, alone and last, torn apart by continuous social contrasts, if we have the strength, we will understand that instead we could have built another Italy.
