Extensive operation of the Italian and Slovenian traffic police on the border

The presence of the Traffic Police within ROADPOL, the European Roads Policing Network, is growing stronger and cooperation between the Italian and Slovenian Traffic Police is steadily growing.

ROADPOL is a cooperation network between the Traffic Police, born under the aegis of the European Union, to which all the Member States and also Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey adhere and as an observer even the Police of the Emirate of Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

The goal is to raise road safety standards, harmonizing prevention, information and control activities, also through communication campaigns and joint operations, the results of which are then monitored by the ROADPOL operating group and, above all, the mission of build a European awareness and conscience regarding the tragic phenomenon of road deaths.

Yesterday all this took the form of a complex and articulated joint control device whose operational theater was the border strip that runs and crosses the province of Gorizia.

The State Police, and the Slovenian counterparts have set up massive traffic controls which, in Italy, have been established at the Villesse A / 34 motorway barrier and in Slovenia within the Sempas service area along the H4 motorway. .

MEN, TECHNOLOGIES AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES USED:

It is now clear that road control has taken on such characteristics that it must be approached with specialized teams, real multidisciplinary task forces. The State Police fielded 8 patrols of the Gorizia Traffic Police equipped with special software for the analysis of tachographs, real black boxes of heavy vehicles, so important as they allow to verify compliance with driving times and rest of professional drivers, significantly affecting traffic safety, the Canine Department for the search for drugs and 2 Judicial Police patrols of the Trieste Traffic Police Department for the repression of offenses related to road traffic. The whole device was supervised by the Flight Department of the State Police of Venice, to have the situation under control from above and thus move the crews according to the needs encountered.

Same approach in Slovenian territory. Here there were 3 traffic police patrols, police teams for immigration control, the financial police offices for the control of the chemical composition of fuels and the payment of the related excise duties and the qualified operators of DARS - Motorway management company Slovenian, for the control of the payment of the motorway toll.

A PARTICULAR EPILOGUE

The day of cross-border checks ended with the arrest of a vehicle coming from Serbia and headed to the Brescia area which was irregularly transporting 36 dogs to be sent to hunting. The transport did not comply with the administrative requirements governing the introduction of pets into the territory of the state. The vehicle was not approved for this type of transport, the driver was not authorized and the accompanying documentation of the dogs immediately appeared not to comply with Community standards. The animals, which in any case showed signs of suffering, were seized and subjected to health restrictions by the veterinary authorities that intervened. The driver was denounced in a state of freedom for crimes of animal abuse, illegal intra - community transport of pets and false material and ideology.

We would conclude with our motto: " Cross borders to save lives ".
