Venezuela, Guaidò launches "operation freedom", military and intelligence at his side

Juan Guaidò gave away the "operation freedom" in Venezuela today, with the intention of overthrowing the government of Nicolas Maduro. Guaidò warned that he will lead a mobilization towards the western part of the capital Caracas, proceeding in the direction of the Miraflores palace, seat of the presidency now occupied by Maduro. In various areas of the country demonstrations are being organized in support of the "end of the usurpation", a slogan with which the self-appointed interim president sums up the "illegitimate" Maduro's stay in power.

In the early hours of the morning, Guaidò had launched - alongside military and opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez - a new appeal for general mobilization. Guaidò's new call, three months after the "oath" as regent, could change the political crisis in the country. The message was launched from the military base La Carlota, in Caracas, with the presence of different elements of the armed forces. Still to clarify the extent of military involvement alongside opponents. During the day the Venezuelan authorities assured that the bulk of the participants in the action had been transported with a "deception" to the air base and that, once the purpose was discovered, they would be reunited with the units loyal to Maduro. At the same time, a member of the majority party, said that among the "traitors" - the small group of soldiers who actually took part in the "coup" - there would also be the director of the Venezuelan intelligence service (Sebin) , Manuel Christopher Figuera.

The Ministry of Defense was in turn aware that the Armed Forces remain "in defense" of the Constitution, while Maduro, in the first and so far the only message published on his twitter profile, has assured that military leaders continue to guarantee their support to the government. "I talked to the commanders" of all the logistic districts on which the armed forces are distributed, and - explained Maduro - "all have shown me their total loyalty to the People, the Constitution and the Fatherland. In a message Maduro invited the population to keep "nerves of steel".
