Versalis Eni, completed the process of acquiring the "bio" activities of Mossi & Ghisolfi

Versalis (Eni) with effect from 1 November 2018 acquired the company branches relating to the activities of the "organic perimeter" of the Mossi & Ghisolfi group, which includes human resources and instrumental assets, tangible and intangible, relating to development, industrialization , licensing of biochemical technologies and processes based on the use of renewable biomass sources.

The chemical company of Eni has successfully completed the process of consulting the union and signed the deed of sale, and is now defining a plan of actions preliminary to the resumption of the operational activities of the plant for the production of bioethanol in Crescentino (Vercelli) and the associated biomass power plant and the Rivalta Scrivia Research Center (Alessandria). The plan also includes the relaunch of the international licensing activities of Proesa® proprietary technology for the production of second-generation bioethanol, able to respond to the growing demand and sustainability requirements for bio-fuels provided for by various legislations worldwide.

With this important acquisition, Versalis continues its commitment to strengthen its competitive position in renewable chemical, whose activities will be merged into a new business unit, and to develop an integrated technological platform in line with the strategy undertaken in recent years, creating synergies with their research projects already under way.
