A violent earthquake from M 5.6 was recorded in the early hours of today in Romania.
The shock was felt at 2: 28 local time, with a hypocenter to 150 km of depth, not only in Transylvania but also in Bulgaria and Ukraine fortunately without reporting serious damage to things and / or people.
According to the spokesman for the Bucharest ambulance service, "the earthquake woke up the residents of the capital and several other cities in Transylvania": Alice Grasu, through the foreign press agencies, said that many suffered from panic attacks after the shock to make it clear how strong and "long" it was like feeling of imminent collapse. Electricity has been interrupted in an area near the epicenter, north-east of Bucharest, for a few hours.
The point of impact of the earthquake was calculated about 130 km North from the Capital Bucharest, but also 54 km SudEst from Sfantu-Gheoghe and 12 km North West from Gura Terghi. The hypocenter calculated at high surface (150 km below ground level), combined with the small number of inhabited centers in the exact epicenter, has allowed to reduce the damage and avoid the one that could have easily transformed into yet another seismic tragedy in European area.
