The Young Udc respond to Di Maio who declares: "Establishment" against the cut

The Youth of the UDC Italy responded harshly to the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio who, in a live Facebook, evaluated the cut of the parliamentarians as an improvement of the Parliament, affirming that "the Establishment" is against the cut.

“Di Maio seems to have gotten lost in the maze of Parliament - broadcast the Youth of the UDC Italy - in his latest live Facebook he said everything and the opposite of everything, ending up highlighting the criticalities of the proposed reform himself. In fact, several other subsequent reforms will be needed in order to at least try to guarantee representation and governability. It is more than evident that even within the M5S itself there are doubts about the proposal, having understood that there will be no savings in economic terms with the proposed cut, there will be no guarantee of representation of the territories and ours is strongly at risk. Democracy. The Constituent Fathers have chosen these precise parameters to guarantee Democracy; it is useful to highlight how the number of parliamentarians is perfectly on average with all other European countries. We believe it absurd that it is precisely those who, until a few months ago, were trying to break down this concept by talking about Direct Democracy who want to explain Representative Democracy ”.

The young people of the UDC Italy highlight how, instead, it is precisely that Establishment that wants the reduction of parliamentarians.

“We would like to invite everyone to reflect; history teaches us that the reduction of parliamentarians has always been requested by subversive associations or by the Lobby. Fewer MPs are easier to control. The centralization of Power in fewer people is always a very high risk. And perhaps, even unwittingly, the Populists are guided by the very Establishment they speak of. Because carrying out such a reform without any guarantee of representativeness of the territories and without any electoral law is madness (just think of the imbalance that will be created between Calabria, which will have a Representative for every 320 thousand inhabitants and Trentino Alto Adige, which instead can have a Representative for every 150 inhabitants). In these 2 years of government, the 5 Star Movement has perhaps not yet understood the true function of Parliament; on the other hand, the latest policies have brought people without any competence into the "Palaces", to quote Di Maio himself. And perhaps the moment has come for the Politics to regenerate and bring the right powers back to the Government ”.
