Who knows what under-the-table promises have really convinced the Knight to change course. Surely the threat of the M5S on the Mediaset broadcasters will fall into oblivion, then there is the question of Dell'Utri (in prison for external competition with the mafia). Apparently, during the consultations Berlusconi mentioned it to President Mattarella. We would not be surprised if, in some time, Dell'Utri will be able to take advantage of an amnesty from the President of the Republic. For the good of the country it doesn't matter, the important thing is to do it immediately, otherwise France and Germany will continue to govern the fate of Europe in a Franco-German sauce.

The country has been waiting for a government for months. I still believe that the solution of the most natural, logical, most coherent crisis with the mandate of the electors would be that of a center-right government, the coalition that prevailed in the elections, led by an exponent indicated by the League, a government that certainly found in Parliament the votes necessary to govern. This road was not considered practicable by the Head of State.
I take note.
For our part we have no place and we do not veto anyone, but - faced with the prospects that are outlined - we can not give our consent today to a government that includes the Five Star Movement, which has also shown in these weeks not to have political maturity to take on this responsibility.
We have always said this, and as far as we are concerned it has never even begun negotiations, neither of a political nature, nor of people or of assignments to be attributed.
If, however, another political force of the center-right coalition believes that it assumes the responsibility of creating a government with the five stars, we note with respect for the choice. It is certainly not for us to veto or prejudice.
In this case we will certainly not be able to vote on trust, but we will evaluate in a serene and without prejudice the actions of the government that will eventually arise, loyally supporting, as we have always done, the measures that are in line with the center-right program. we will consider profits for Italians.
If instead this government could not be born, no one can use us as an alibi for the incapacity - or the objective impossibility - of finding agreements between very different political forces.
More to us we can not ask, also in the name of the commitments we have taken with the voters.
All this does not mark the end of the center-right alliance: the many collaborations remain in regional and local governments, remains a common history, remains the common commitment taken with the voters.
We continue to work to get back to winning, but above all because we are going back to winning Italy.
