🎤After the rockets launched on the Golan, explosions south of Damascus

The day after the announcement of the US exit from the nuclear agreement, the tension between Iran and Israel continues to rise.

During the night, explosions were heard on the southern outskirts of Damascus while some fighter jets flew over the area: it may have been the Israeli response to the launch of the 20 rockets launched against its military posts on the Golan.

According to Israeli spokesman Jonathan Concricus, Iranian forces attacked shortly after midnight local time and "targeted several military bases". It is the first time that Israel has directly blamed the Iranians for an attack from Syria. However, the spokesman specified that "there were no casualties and the damage is limited", also thanks to the fact that several rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile shield.

Civilian settlements on the Golan were not affected. It is not yet clear whether the attack is, in turn, a retaliation for the bombing of the T4 air base in Syria in mid-April in which seven Iranians died and of which Damascus and Tehran accused Israel. Previously, however, Israeli artillery had targeted Syrian regime positions on the outskirts of Quneitra, on the Golan, and the army had reported that Iranian targets would be hit. After all, Israeli intelligence had warned of a risk of escalation in the area after Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear deal, even if this should not lead to a real conflict with Tehran.
