(By Mario Galati) On June 2, the Italian Republic Day is celebrated, the day of the institutional referendum of 1946. The municipal administration of Colleferro for this important anniversary has organized a concert by the Philharmonic of the homonymous town to be held Thursday 2 June 2022, 21 hours inMusic Factory Auditorium in Piazza 29 March 1950, Colleferro Scalo.

But on 2 June there is another reason for Colleferro to celebrate. That day 78 years ago the city was in fact liberated from the German occupation. The allied troops arrived from Artena and those of the FEC from Montelanico who found their way smoothed by the commandos of the FSSF, the mythical black devils of General Robert Frederick. As we read in the book "Cassino to the Alps": "General Frederick's 1st Special Service Force has reached Colle Ferro (the allies wrote it like this), a very important road junction for enemy troops to retreat, surprising the Germans on their left flank, taking over 200 prisoners and thus eliminating the enemy rearguard.
A rear guard, as FSSF explains the devil's brigate Canada at war; on 2 June around noon the fssf advanced to take Colle Ferro where they fought under heavy enemy fire to eliminate the attacks of the demolition departments that were working to destroy the infrastructure of the city ”.
