48 millions of euro the treasure of the League seized by the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on 12 April accepted the appeal of the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office, ordering the Review of the Ligurian capital to express itself again on the Carroccio treasure. So far, in fact, only 1,6 million euros have been blocked, found by the Fiamme Gialle on the party accounts when the kidnapping was ordered. According to the Court of Genoa, the money was set aside thanks to a fraud against the state on reimbursements to parties for electoral contributions. The Supreme Court also ordered that funds be immobilized up to the 'threshold' of 48 million 969 thousand euros, a sum for which the Court of Genoa on 24 September 2017 had sentenced Umberto Bossi, the treasurer Francesco Belsito and three other defendants and which he had ordered confiscation.

The reasons for the decision of the Supreme Court support that the seizure must go on and must concern all funds referable to the Carroccio, whether they are on bank accounts, or on booklets or deposits.

The Guardia di Finanza can therefore proceed with the blocking of the Lega's accounts by virtue of the seizure decree, issued last September 4 by the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office, without the need for a new provision for any sums deposited after the decree. Giovanni Ponti, lawyer of the Carroccio, has the opposite opinion, for which the only sums that can be seized are those found "at the time of execution".

Matteo Salvini, for his part, has made it known that those sums are no longer there because they have been spent in the last 10 years. The request for kidnapping comes from "a political trial" and is the result of "a political sentence because they try to outlaw us", said the secretary of the League, hosted by 'In Onda' on La7. The reaction of Giulio Centemero, deputy of the Carroccio and party administrator, was also immediate. "Perhaps the effectiveness of the League's government action bothers someone but they will certainly not stop us like this." And from circles close to Via Bellerio the intention of the leaders of the party emerges to sue those who "speak out of stolen money". The leader of the League, ironic, would have said that if necessary we will make a collection.
