In Rome the Space Smart Factory, the largest in Europe

At the gates of Rome in Tiburtino Technopole one will be born Space Smart Factory, thus marking an absolute novelty in the European panorama of the sector smart factories.

The plant, operational from 2025, will specialize in the creation of small satellites. Over 100 million euros will be foreseen in an investment plan of the company Thales Alenia Space (joint venture between Thales 67% and Leonardo 33%), co-financed by'Italian Space Agency through Pnrr funds, as part of the technological development of one of the Roman excellences which already includes 150 companies in the sector, the Tiburtino Technopole.

The structure was created to respond to the growing number of requests for satellites and will also be available to the supply chain and small and medium-sized businesses in the sector. It will also constitute a hub digital for the development of services, with a total surface area of. 21.000 square metres, 5.000 of which are dedicated to reconfigurable clean rooms, 1.900 of offices and collaborative areas as well as 1.800 of industrial technical areas.
