Abi: banks at the forefront of IT security

The defense activity of the Banking World against computer fraud is growing even more, especially in the last months of the COVID crisis.

The ABI, with the support of CERTFin - the public-private cooperative initiative coordinated by the ABI and the Bank of Italy to increase the cyber risk management capacity of banking and financial operators - continues to monitor with great attention the evolution of cyber attacks targeting the banking sector and home banking customers.

On the one hand, a series of initiatives were launched aimed at supporting financial sector operators and detecting new possible threats and seminars and meetings were organized, remotely, to provide information and technological insights on recently detected phenomena, with particular reference phishing campaigns and business continuity issues. On the other hand, the banks have activated awareness campaigns aimed at employees precisely to draw attention to the measures to be taken when working at home.

Cyber security, however, also passes through the collaboration of bank customers.

For this reason the ABI promotes a guide on the responsible use of technology by customers, created by Bancaria Editrice with the contribution of ABI Lab and prestigious interlocutors such as Polizia di Stato and CERTFin, in which the basic rules for keeping safe your devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) from prying eyes and some safety rules to avoid falling into the most common traps.
