Air Force: ambulance with life-threatening patient transported to Bari with C-130J

Departing from the Pisa base, the aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade allowed the emergency vehicle, with the patient on board, to arrive more quickly from Milan to the Bari Polyclinic

The C-130J tactical transport aircraft that transferred a 66-year-old man in imminent danger to his life from Milan to Bari landed at Bari airport yesterday evening.

Following the request from the Prefecture of Milan to the COA (Aerospace Operations Command), the Air Force made the C-130J of the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa available, which directly embarked the ambulance, together with the patient and the team medical, to drastically reduce transport times from San Raffale in Milan to the Polyclinic of Bari.

The aircraft took off from Pisa airport after the military crew had carried out all the necessary procedures, and headed towards Milan Linate airport, where it boarded the emergency medical transport vehicle. After landing at Bari Airport, the C-130J returned to Pisa, immediately becoming available for possible new activations.

The 46th Air Brigade of Pisa is one of the Air Force Departments that carries out the operational readiness service for this kind of missions, together with the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare and the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia. The Flight Departments are in fact available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life , but also organs, medical teams or ambulances.
